Hawea Vercoe Leadership Programme
Erena Wikaire (Ngāpuhi, Ngāti Hine) is working towards a doctorate in public health at University of Auckland focusing on Māori health traditions and health outcomes.
Kingi Snelgar (Ngāpuhi, Ngati Whakaue, Te Whakatohea, Ngai Tahu) holds a Master of Laws degree specialising in criminal justice and indigenous law from Harvard. He is now based with Manuka Chambers in South Auckland.
Dr David Jansen (Ngāti Raukawa) is a prominent doctor providing general practitioner services in Papakura. David has a passion for Māori Health and supporting students and emerging GPs through their careers. Dr Jensen practices out of a Marae based clinic where he sits as the medical director.
Erena, Kingi and David will be working with our young mentees throughout the year to support them with their career aspirations. Our Hawea Vercoe Leadership Programme is a tribute to the late Hawea Vercoe, former principal of Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Rotoiti.
